Recovery Run
4am comes early and fast. I enjoy the quiet and coolness of running this early. I run with my neighbor for a 4 mile loop around our crater, usually slower than pace and walking up the hills. This morning I added a 2 mile out and back to increase my mileage to 6. She went home and I kept going. Those last 2.5 miles were worth it. I felt so good floating along at a nice easy pace without having to worry about whether I was running too fast or too slow for my neighbor. The best part of running for me is the time I get to spend with my own thoughts and being in my own world. I like my neighbor, but sometimes it's a little distracting. I talk too much, I am preoccupied with either keeping up or slowing down, and I am never sure if I am reading her correctly. I don't run with her everyday and I do enjoy her company. It's all good.

I Am a Long Distance Runner
Yesterday I ran a 10 mile race in Hawaii and realized I am a long distance runner. I have never felt as accomplished as I did yesterday morning, standing at the finish line, gulping a bottle of water and soaking up the beautiful Hawaiian sunshine. I am not a fast runner, but I can run for a long time; 2 hours and 13 minutes to be exact. Four months ago I walked the 8 mile course of the Great Aloha Run in 2 hours 27 minutes so I guess I am a little faster. I feel like I am becoming who I am supposed to be, doing what I am created to do. Somehow running is helping me to see my potential and at 46 I feel like I can dare to dream and make them come true.
